PRE-LICENSING: How to Get Licensed in 4 Easy Steps:

1)

COMPLETE THE CA "LIFE AND HEALTH INSURANCE" ONLINE COURSE

***This first step should be completed with your trainer

California Only: WFG.EXAMFX.COM

All States: XCELSOLUTIONS.COM

  • Go to WFG.EXAMFX.COM 

  • Select “Register Now” (Orange tab) 

  • Select “Insurance Pre-licensing” course 

  • Select “California” from drop down list 

  • Select “Life and Health Insurance” 

  • Click “Next Step” 

  • Select “California Life and Health Insurance Video Study Package-Life and Health + SPECIALTY TRAINING BUNDLE ($29.95)”

    • Note: Bundle includes state--required training in Annuities, Long Term Care and Anti--Money Laundering to be taken later once licensed           

  • Click "Continue"

    • You do not need to add Any Add-On Products or Learning Tools 

  • Select “New User” tab at the top to create a New Account 

  • Complete the New Associate’s personal information to set up account​

  • Complete Billing Information 

  • Complete course in this order (Ideally within 7 days or less) 

    • Study by Topics 

    • Cram Course (unlimited attempts allowed)

    • Simulate Your Exams (unlimited attempts allowed)

    • Guaranteed Exam (max 2 attempts allowed)

  • Print both certificates

2)

SCHEDULE AND PASS THE LIFE EXAM​

THE FOLLOWING STEPS ARE SPECIFIC TO CALIFORNIA STATE, HOWEVER, MANY STATES CAN FOLLOW SIMILAR

STEPS (JUST SELECT YOUR RESIDENT STATE AS THE JURISDICTION)​

  • Schedule your exam on https://home.psiexams.com/#/home (California) 

  • Sign in to your account 

  • Click on dashboard where your name is 

    • Select Schedule an exam 

    • Select Organization “CA Department of Insurance” 

    • Select Test “CA PSI Site - Life, Accident and Health Agent Examination (Life Agent)” 

    • Select Continue 

    • Enter your information under Eligibility Record 

    • Select School/Provider 145803 ExamFx 

    • Pre-Licensing Course Completion: you can enter any date before the day that you are scheduling your exam for Click "continue," verify testing information is correct, and click "continue"

    • Enter your payment 

    • You will now select if you want to test at a PSI test site or Remotely proctored online from a computer at a remote location

    • ​Schedule a date and time, and click "confirm"​​​​​

If you are doing in-person testing: 

✓ Must bring: a picture ID, copy of exam confirmation, completion certificates of Online Life Only OR Life & Health and CA Code and Ethics courses

✓ No personal items are to enter the testing center. CDI & PSI will not be responsible for any personal items and suggests that you leave them locked in your car 

✓ DO NOT LEAVE without completing FINGERPRINTS. Stay after the test to complete fingerprints 

✓ Additional fee applies 

✓ Call testing center ahead of time to verify price and availability

 

If you are doing remote online testing:

Before your exam begins, please be aware of the following testing rules: 

✓ Please be reminded that earbuds, earphones, hats, caps, hood, shades or anything that can be placed on the head or face is NOT allowed. 

✓ Food, Drinks, or Breaks are not allowed. All personal items must be removed from the work area. 

✓ Candidates are not allowed to have scratch paper. 

✓ You are not allowed to leave the station during the exam. If you need to use the restroom before the exam begins, please do so now.

✓ Please do your best to avoid covering your mouth for the whole duration of exam. Be aware that talking/whispering/mouthing is not allowed during exam. 

✓ You must keep both of your hands on or above the desktop during the exam. 

✓ Also note that under no circumstances are you allowed to take a screenshot or photo of the exam or the exam results at any time during or after the session.

COMPLETE YOUR FINGERPRINTS

Schedule the soonest possible appointment; you want to get your fingerprints done

as soon as possible, so you can receive your license as soon as possible

  • Option 1- Before your license examination, you may schedule your fingerprint

​impressions using CDI's contracted fingerprint vendor, Accurate Biometrics at (866) 361-9944

to find a location near you.

  • Go get your fingerprints done and keep receipt for your records

APPLY FOR LICENSE

  • Go to https://www.sircon.com/products/apply.jsp (California)

  • Under New Insurance Licenses

    • click- New Insurance License

    • Select- Resident 

    • Select- Individual 

  • Click Continue 

    • Enter your email address 

  • Click Continue 

    • Enter your Last Name, SSN, Confirm SSN 

    • Select- Applicant 

    • Select State- California

  • Click Continue 

    • Select License Type- Resident Insurance Producer 

    • Select Qualification Code- Check both boxes 

      • 2 boxes: Life Only 

      • Accident and Health 

  • Click Continue

    • Enter your personal information- Business Address and Mailing Address as your resident address

  • Click Continue 

    • Enter employment history for the last 5 years 

    • Answer background check questions (All should be No)- Please talk to your trainer or senior director if you have a “Yes” answer. 

    • Enter Fictitious names if applicable 

    • Select whether fingerprints have been completed 

    • Enter date pre-licensing was completed 

  • Click Continue 

    • You may skip questions that are OPTIONAL 

  • Click Continue 

    • Select “I Agree” on Attestation 

  • Click Continue 

    • Select “I understand that all license application fees are non-refundable.” 

    • Click Submit 

    • Enter your payment information ($190) 

  • Check for pending license status (it will take approximately 1-2 weeks for your license to update on CA Department of Insurance website)

    • Go to https://www.sircon.com 

      • Under product Log in, select Product log in 

      • Under Sircon for Individuals, enter your username and password

      • Select activities 

      • Check your license application status around 7-10 business days

      • Use Live Chat feature or Call CA Department of Insurance 1.800.967.9331 to inquiry if there’s anything that’s holding from your license getting approved

POST- LICENSING: So You Got Your License, Now What?

1)

CREATE A MYWFG ACCOUNT​

Non-California Resident

  • Go to www.wfglaunch.com

    • Click "Create Password" -- you will need your Agent ID (ask your trainer for yours if you don't have it), birth date, and the email you used when you first enrolled in licensing

    • Create a Security Question --> Create a Password --> Log In

    • Go to the "Licensing tab" --> Go to the "WFG Agent Agreement" 

    • **Please do not sign the "Agent Agreement" if you have no business in the pipeline, ask your trainer**

    • Click "WFG Agent Agreement" at the top, and click "Start Application Process" *Please note you might get an error message that they are unable to validate "your license," try to input "your NPN" **

    • Complete the additional background check process and submit the Agent Agreement

***Immediately notify Joanne & Elizabeth that you submitted your Agent Agreement​​

  • Once you receive an email that your Agent Application has been approved (can take up to 5-7 business days), go to www.mywfg.com

    • Click "Create Password," fill in the information, and click "Verify Identity"

      • If you're having any issues, try "resetting" your password, or contact your trainer for additional help

    • Once you've created an account, get together with your trainer to learn how to navigate through your new online portal, including: running reports (points, recruits, cashflow, etc.), promotion tracker, Salesforce, etc.

  • Set Up Direct Deposit

    • Once you've logged into your MyWFG account, in the upper right, click "Menu" 

    • Click "Administration" --> "BOSS Electronic Forms" --> "Direct Deposit Authorization Agreement Form"

    • Complete sign up procedure​

California Resident

    • Go to www.wfgdirect.com

    • Click "Create Password" -- you will need your Agent ID (ask your trainer for yours if you don't have it), birth date, and the email you used when you first enrolled in licensing

    • Create a Security Question --> Create a Password --> Log In

    • Go to the "Administration" tab

    • **Please do not sign the "Agent Agreement" if you have no business in the pipeline, ask your trainer*

    • Click "Forms" and click "WFG Agent Agreement" *Please note you might get an error message that they are unable to validate your license because your license is "too hot off the press", try this step again in the next 24 hours*

    • Complete the additional background check process and submit the Agent Agreement​

***Immediately notify Joanne & Elizabeth that you submitted your Agent Agreement

  • Once you receive an email that your Agent Application has been approved (can take up to 5-7 business days), go to www.mywfg.com

    • Click "Create Password," fill in the information, and click "Verify Identity"

2)

ENROLL FOR E&O INSURANCE COVERAGE THROUGH MARSH

​Errors & Omissions (E&O) Insurance is required for all licensed agents. Marsh is a partner company that offers E&O insurance, which is a professional liability insurance that protects you and your business against claims made by clients for inadequate work or negligent actions. It often covers court costs and settlements up to the amount specified in the contract. Failure to purchase E&O insurance leaves you and your business financially exposed. 

*New York agents are not required to purchase E&O Coverage through Marsh

  • Go to Marsh

  • Verify your identity by inputting your Agent Code & Email Address (*please note: you must use the same email address you used when you originally got enrolled with the company/licensing)

  • Select your desired payment option (either pay in full or in installments -- there is no discount or fee to select installments versus paying in full)

  • Put in your Payment Method information and click "Complete Purchase"

  • View Confirmation Page and save for your records 

    • Please Note: Commissions will be withheld and Termination will take effect if you do not have E&O Coverage ​

3)

​COMPLETE YOUR CONTINUING EDUCATION (CE) COURSES

  • Log in to your ExamFx Account

  • Click on “Continue Education”,  to start on your courses.  If you don’t see a link for this, follow the instruction below

    • After you obtain your certificate of completion for 52 hours online course, you should have received an email from ExamFx with subject “ExamFX CE Voucher”. This voucher gets you access to CE courses at no additional cost and is good for 1 year.  If you don’t have a voucher, please call their customer service 1.800.586.2253 or email jobeth.mills@examfx.com and cc to business.services@examfx.com to obtain your voucher code

    • Follow the instructions in that email 

      • Go to https://www.examfx.com/Redeem-Voucher.aspx

      • Enter a voucher code in the REGISTER VOUCHER CODE field

      • Click REGISTER

      • Select the state in which you will earn your license and click CONTINUE

      • Follow all prompts and instructions to complete registration​

  • ​You must complete the following courses before submitting any business:

  • Follow these steps every two years, because 24 hours of Continuing Education is required every two years to keep your license active

4)

GET APPOINTED

  • Complete electronic appointments for Life & Disability Insurance carriers

    • It is first important to check that your personal information is correct in the system

      • Log on to www.MyWFG.com

      • Click "My Profile" on bottom of home page

        • Click on "Contact Settings" to verify or edit address, phone number, and email address

        • Click on "Business Stats" to verify or edit Business Style to "Legacy" and Channel to "Blue"

        • Once your profile has been checked, continue on to appointments

    • On the top right corner, go to "Menu," click "Licensing & Appointments," --> "Appointments," --> "Carrier Appointments" --> select Product Type "Life & Disability Insurance" --> select "Non-New York Life & Disability Carriers" 

    • From there, you will need to individually complete the following Carrier Appointments electronically: ​

    • Complete electronic appointments for Annuity and Long-Term Care Carriers

      • NOTE: all Annuity & LTC appointments are now completed through AMS

    • On the top right corner, go to "Menu," click "Licensing & Appointments," --> "Appointments," --> "Carrier Appointments" --> select Product Type "Fixed/Index Annuity --> select "Non-New York Life & Disability Carriers"

      • AMS- Follow AMS instructions to get appointed

      • Select Fixed Indexed Annuity

      • Follow instructions to register

      • Select Carrier Contracting

      • Complete the RedEd product specific Annuity training:

        • Go to www.reged.com/trainingplatform and create an account​

        • Click on LOG IN, not secure log in  

        • Enter the following Product Code & complete the course

          • PerformanceElite_2015​

***Call AMS to make sure they forward all the contracting paperwork to Athene in a timely manner.  Please note you will not be officially appointed with Athene until you submit your very first application***
